The First Day of School...and the Little Brother

The First Day of School...and the Little Brother.
(Sounds like a good children's book doesn' it?)

Ellie was very excited to wake up this morning and get ready for her first day of summer school this year! She get's to drive to work with daddy and go to his school for half days this summer, and after how much she loved it last year, she knew what was in store for her. She's got her Ariel backpack, Ariel lunch box, Ariel food container, and this years' new addition...an Ariel thermos! Do you see a pattern. Now, her little brother is just as obsessed with Ariel as she is. It's very sweet actually. As you can see, he wanted to wear the backpack too and go to school with her. Ellie went off this morning, so excited to drive with Daddy in his car. Poor Matthew was left behind with Mommy...no sister, no Ariel. He was looking in all the rooms...."Ellwa! Ellwa? Ellwa!". Now don't feel too bad for him. He gets something that, as a second child, he has almost never experienced...one on one time with Mommy. While he may miss "Ellwa", he's going to have a great time too this summer.

Science Museum

We went to the Fort Worth Science Museum this morning with a few friends and had a ball! Matthew's favorites were the bubble tubes, and the giant tortoise. He kept trying to climb up on top of the turtle, and spent a lot of time putting his hands in the right spots that made the bubbles go! Ellie liked playing doctor to all the babies, giving them shots, feeding them and putting them to bed. I just had a great time taking cute pictures. We ended our visit with lunch outside and as you can see, Matthew felt very privileged to get to sit at the "big kid" table. The "babies" and mommies sat at another table close by. He SO wants to be a "big kid" with his big sister!

Summer fun

This is what summer looks like around here...

...sandbox, pool, popsicles...repeat. Keep in mind I specifically asked for the sanbox to be built off the ground so they wouldn't sit in it and get completely sandy. Oh well.
